Renaud was born in 0990. Renaud's father was Count Norcher II OF BAR-SUR-AUBE and his mother was Aelis OF SOISSONS. His paternal grandfather was Count Norcher I OF BAR-SUR-AUBE; his maternal grandparents were Guy OF VERMANDOIS and Adelaide DE SOISSONS. He had a brother named Nocher III. He was the older of the two children.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
