Aelis' father was Guy OF VERMANDOIS and her mother was Adelaide DE SOISSONS. Her paternal grandparents were Albert I "The Pious" OF VERMANDOIS and Princess/ Gerberge OF LORRAINE; her maternal grandfather was Giselbert OF SOISSONS. She had a half-brother named Nocher II.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
