Alice was born in 1092 in Essex. Alice's father was Lord Gilbert FitzRichard Of Tonbridge And Cardigan DE CLARE and her mother was Adeliza DE CLERMONT. Her paternal grandparents were Lord Richard FitzGilbert "DE Tonbridge" Of Bienfaite DE CLARE and Rohese GIFFARD; her maternal grandparents were Count Hugh DE Creil Of Claremont DE CLERMONT and Marquerite DE ROUCY. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Gilbert FitzGilbert Of Pembroke and Hereford, Baldwin Fitzgilbert Of Bourne Deeping, Richard FitzGilbert Of Hertford, John "The Marshall", Agnes, Margaret and Rose FitzGilbert Of Monmouth. She was the fourth oldest of the eight children. She had a half-brother named Herve. She died at the age of 71 in 1163.General Notes
