Robert (Richard) De was born about 1249 in Tonbridge, Kent, England.  Robert (Richard) De's father was Richard de CLARE EARL OF GLOUCESTER and his mother was Maud de LACY. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Gilbert "the Red Earl" de, Thomas de, Bevis (Bogo) (Benet) De, Isabel De, Margaret De, Maud De, Roese (Rohesia) De and Eglentine De.  He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.  He died before July 1262.
