Matilda (Edith) was born in 1080 in Dunfermline, Fifeshire, Scotland.  Matilda (Edith)'s father was King Malcolm "Ceann'Moir" Canmore III of Scotland and her mother was Queen Margaret "The Exile" "Saint" Atheling of Scotland.  Her paternal grandparents were King Duncan "The Gracious" ap Crinan de Mormaer I of Scotland and Queen Sybil (Aelflaed) FitzSiward of Scotland. She had a brother and a sister, named David "The Saint of Scotland" and Mary.  She was the oldest of the three children.  She died at the age of 38 on May 1st, 1118 in Westminster Palace, London, Middlesex, England.  She was buried in Westminster Abbey, London, England OR Winchester, England.
