His maternal grandparents were Andrew Seawright Jackson Burton and Julia Margaret Virginia Dixon. He had five brothers and a sister, named Robert Grady, Hubert Fletcher, Wilton Jasper, Harold Richard, Fred Burton and Beverly Henry. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.-
