Charles William was born about 1820 in Monroe CO., W. VA. Charles William's father was Joseph Workman Jr and his mother was Elizabeth Reed. His paternal grandfather was Joseph Workman; his maternal grandparents were John Reed and Mary Elizabeth Shanton. He had four brothers and two sisters, named James Matison, Raymond Shanton, William Washington, George Floyd, Malinda Jane and Mary. He was the oldest of the seven children. He died in September 1869 in Greenbriar CO., W.VA.-
