Posey was born on November 30th, 1796. Posey's father was Robert Johnston and his/her mother was Elisabeth Awbrey. His/her paternal grandparents were John Johnston and Mary Dougan. He/she had six brothers and five sisters, named Benjamin, Robert Dugan, William, Samuel Awbrey, Thomas Dougan, Chandler Awbrey, Areathusca, Mary (Polly), Elisabeth, Margaret and Rebeca. He/she was the fifth youngest of the twelve children.-
