Toliver Hedgepath, Sr. was born on December 17th, 1817 in South Carolina.1 Toliver Hedgepath, Sr.'s father was Enoch II Grubbs and his mother was Sarah Rhoda Parnell. His paternal grandparents were Enoch I Grubbs and Florid K. Burton. He was an only child. He died at the age of 87 on February 18th, 1905 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. Toliver moved from S.C. with his family and lived for a few years in
Alabama, then later moved to Pontotoc County, Mississippi. He moved
along the Natchez Trace and settled in the Buncombe community. That was
a thriving community at that time and was some six or eight miles east of
the town of New Albany. Several descendants of Toliver Grubbs have
reared families in this part of Mississippi and some are still living
there.
