William Jasper Bowden 
William Jasper was born on November 22nd, 1847 in TN.1 William Jasper's father was James Newton Bowden. His paternal grandfather was John Bodine. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named John H., Joseph R., Lafayette T., Newton II, Columbus Washington, Henry B., Charles Went, James R., Elizabeth Jane, Mary E., Elizabeth and Madora Alice. He died at the age of 77 on May 25th, 1925 in Pope Co., AR.1 General Notes

William Jasper Bowden served in the Third Arkansas Cavalry, Co. K., with
an enlistment date of 1 February 1864. He participated in battles at
Prairie De Ann, Mark's Mills and Jenkins Ferry. He was also with General
Frederick Steele on the Camden expedition in the spring of 1864. After
returning to AR in May, 1864, William was assigned toscouting and holding
duties in western regions for the remainder of his service.
