Charles Went Bowden 
Charles Went was born on October 15th, 1863 in Russellville, Pope Co., AR.1 Charles Went's father was James Newton Bowden. His paternal grandfather was John Bodine. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named John H., William Jasper, Joseph R., Lafayette T., Newton II, Columbus Washington, Henry B., James R., Elizabeth Jane, Mary E., Elizabeth and Madora Alice. He died at the age of 75 on September 28th, 1939 in Hector, Pope Co., AR.1 General Notes

The story goes that Charles came home one day and found his nephew,
Newton Bowden, III with is wife. The manner in which he found his wife
and nephew is not mentioned, however, it can be assumed by the reader.
Charles reacted by taking his shotgun and shooting Newton in the leg as
he was going over a fence. Newton lost the leg.
Charles and Mary divorced and each remarried within weeks of each other.
Mary married Newton. It was told that when she did not want him to
travel to town and to stay at home, she would hide his wooden leg.
He had two biological sons named William Franklin and Charles Arthur.
