Grief Talley 
Grief was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.1 Grief's father was Joseph Talley and his mother was Jane Russell. His paternal grandparents were William H. Talley and Rachel Grief; his maternal grandparents were Jeffrey Russell and Elizabeth Wood. He had two brothers and a sister, named George Washington, Russell and Mary Ann. He died after 1830.1 
Grief and Lucinda were married in a religious ceremony on September 16th, 1799 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.1 They had three sons and a daughter, named Allen, Joseph, George and Nancy.
