Elizabeth was born about 1778 in North Carolina.1 Elizabeth's father was Kindred Spears and her mother was Elizabeth Jones. Her paternal grandparents were James Spears and Elizabeth Coker; her maternal grandfather was James Jones. She had three brothers and a sister, named Willis, Nathan, William and Sarah. She was the youngest of the five children.-
