Rachel Simmons 
Rachel was born in 1841 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.1 Rachel's father was James G. Simmons and her mother was Sarah Gillenwater. Her paternal grandparents were James Simmons and Elizabeth Gillenwaters; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Gillenwater and Mary Mallory Wilkins. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Thomas, James, William, Clay, Mary, Nancy, Martha and Sarah. She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.-
