Jacob Gibson was born in December 1757 in ,,Virginia.1 Jacob Gibson's father was James Whaley and his mother was Barbara Ramey. His paternal grandparents were James Whaley and Elizabeth; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Remy and Sarah. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Benjamin, James, Henry, Elijah, Leland, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Sarah, Kate and Jemima. He was the oldest of the eleven children. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named John, William, Elizabeth, Jane Or Keziah, Barbara and Mary.-
