John McLain

John was born in 1852 in Of, Hawkins, Tennessee.¹ John's father was Clark McLain and his mother was Susannah. His paternal grandparents were Thomas McLain and Elizabeth Doty. He had seven brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, Hiram, Jacob, Joseph M., George, Wade H., Luke, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary Ann, Deborah and Margaret. He was the fourth youngest of the fourteen children.
