James Martin

James was born on May 17th, 1801 in Of, Hawkins, Tennessee.¹   James' father was Thomas Martin and his mother was Elizabeth. He had six brothers and two sisters, named John, Thomas, Aaron, Paschal, Absalom, Abijah, Mahala and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the nine children. He had a half-brother named William.
