William Koontz 
William was born about 1798 in ,Monroe, West Virginia.1 William's father was Henry Koontz and his mother was Elizabeth Bowyer. His maternal grandparents were Adam Bowyer and Christine Louderback. He had six brothers and three sisters, named George, Charles, Andrew, Samuel, John, Alexander, Sarah, Susannah and Elizabeth. He was the fourth oldest of the ten children.-
