Elizabeth was born about 1810 in ,Monroe, West Virginia.1 Elizabeth's father was Henry Koontz and her mother was Elizabeth Bowyer. Her maternal grandparents were Adam Bowyer and Christine Louderback. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named George, William, Charles, Andrew, Samuel, John, Alexander, Sarah and Susannah. She was the youngest of the ten children.-
