Elijah Greathouse

Elijah was born in 1839 in ,,Illinois.¹ Elijah's father was William Greathouse and his mother was Elizabeth Newby. His paternal grandparents were Hiram Greathouse and Lydia Ann; his maternal grandparents were John Newby and Rebecca Simpson. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Hiram, Bryant, Daniel, Lucy J., Caroline, Rebecca, Lydia Ann and Lucena. He was the oldest of the nine children.
