Mahala Dykes

Mahala was born on June 21st, 1812 in Greene County, TN.¹ Mahala's father was William Dykes and her mother was Jennie Gallemore. Her paternal grandparents were William Dykes and Susannah Lankford. She had three brothers and eight sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Andrew Jackson, John, Clabourn, Sarah, Anna, Elizabeth, Dykes, Molly, Martha, Susan Amanda, Dykes and Dykes. She was the second oldest of the thirteen children.
