Alvin Cates

Alvin was born in 1863 in ,Wayne, Illinois.¹   Alvin's father was Benjamin F. Cates and his mother was Sarah Jane. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John M., A. Judson, Augusta, Nancy and Millie.  He was the third oldest of the six children. He had four half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Isaac Shelby, Clinton, William, Simeon, Sarah, Eliza Lisa, Mary Susan, Joan, Martha, Ornettie and Nancy.
