Little Daniel's father was Roderick McIver and his mother was Nancy McKay. His paternal grandfather was Kenneth McIver. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Duncan, Isabella, Big Daniel, John, Kenneth, Catherine and Margaret. He died in July 1845 in Moore County, NC.-
