Big Daniel's father was Roderick McIver and his mother was Nancy McKay. His paternal grandfather was Kenneth McIver. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Duncan, Isabella, John, Kenneth, Little Daniel, Catherine and Margaret. He died on September 6th, 1842 in Moore County, NC.-
