Thomas Cates 
Thomas was born in 1733 in Orange NC. Thomas' father was Thomas Cates and his mother was Rebecca Sykes. His paternal grandparents were Robert Ezra Cates and Mary Ann Randall; his maternal grandfather was Bernard Sykes III. He had two brothers and a sister, named Bernard, John and Sylvia. He was the oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 83 in 1816 in Orange NC.General Notes
