Kindred was born in 1749 in North Carolina. Kindred's father was Willis Spears. His paternal grandparents were Kindred Spears and Elizabeth Jones. He had a brother and three sisters, named Willis, Caroline, Sarah and Mary E.. He was the oldest of the five children. Kindred is no longer alive.-
