Garland David Shipley 
Garland David was born in 1899 in Virginia. Garland David's father was Samuel Augustus Shipley and his mother was Sarah Elizabeth Gilley. His paternal grandparents were John Childers Shipley and Nancy Martitia Green. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Napoleon Benjamin, Loyd Cleveland, Ballard Henry, John Childers, Orena Bell and Martha. He was the youngest of the seven children.
