Roy Taze was born on January 31st, 1894 in , Stoddard, Missouri. Roy Taze's father was James Franklin Shehorn and his mother was Mary Ann Barnes. His paternal grandparents were Giles Harrison Shehorn and Ammogine Horton; his maternal grandfather was Felix Barnes. He had a brother named Isaac. He was the younger of the two children. He had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Samuel Russell, Giles Wesley, Gertrude Louisa, Bertha Angeline and Beulah Ruth. He died at the age of 68 on May 22nd, 1962 in , , Arizona.-
