Giles Harrison was born on December 20th, 1844 in , Macon Or Sumner, Tennessee. Giles Harrison's father was George Daniel Shehorn and his mother was Emily Harrison James. His paternal grandparents were John Shehorn and Crissy Cato; his maternal grandfather was Sidney James. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named George Washington, William Harrison, James W., Andrew Jackson, Benjamin Franklin, Isaac S., Ambrose Daniel, John Shirley, Martha A., Elmira J., Catherine F. and Sarah Margaret. He was the fifth youngest of the thirteen children. He had a half-brother named Joseph L.. He died at the age of 64 on November 29th, 1909 in Essex, Stoddard, Missouri.
