Franklin Shanks 
Franklin was born in 1848 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Franklin's father was Michael Shanks and his mother was Leah. His paternal grandparents were Christian Shanks and Margaret Pearson. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Christian, William, Henry, Michael, Thomas, Doctor, Harriet, Jane and Sarah. He was the third youngest of the ten children.
