Tabitha was born in 1863 in , , Arkansas. Tabitha's father was James Charles and her mother was Mary Jane Hooten. Her paternal grandparents were Stephen K. Charles and Mary Knowles. She had five brothers and two sisters, named John, Felix A., Stephen, Joseph Martin, James R., Mary and Mary Jane. She was the second youngest of the eight children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named James T., William T., Mary E. and Mattie F.. She died at the age of 61 on July 3rd, 1924 in , Jack, Texas.-
