His maternal grandparents were James Henry COFFELT and Agnes UNKNOWN. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Henry Jason , Levi, Jesse Dowess, Ulysses Grant, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Josephine, Louisa Jane, Sarah Isabel, Twin Infant and Twin Infant . He was the third oldest of the twelve children.-
