Rebecca was born in 1858 in Ohio. Rebecca's father was Samuel Hennis and her mother was Matilda Swallow. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Hennis and Catherine Unknown; her maternal grandparents were Unknown Swallow and Mary Hart. She had six brothers and five sisters, named George, John W., Franklin S. (Frank), Parks, Morland St. Clair, Max, Mary Elisabeth, Jane, Emma (Aimy), Susan (Susie) and Ross Etta.General Notes
According to the 1880 census, Rebecca was still living at home in Short Creek, Harrison Co, Ohio. Rebecca's husband is from a 1942 letter by Carrie McCann
