Her paternal grandparents were Richard Everson and Eleanor (Nellie) Bugher; her maternal grandparents were Henry Paugh and Mary Adams. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Richard M., Jefferson D. (George), John Henry, James W. H., Robert Roy, Frank F., Benjamin Franklin, Mary Ellen, Elizabeth, Florence Etta and Sallie. She was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named William O. Butler, Nora Amelia and Harriet Virginia.-
