Prudence N. was born about 1831 in North Carolina.1 Prudence N.'s father was Nathaniel Sims and her mother was UNKNOWN Wife. Her paternal grandparents were Anderson Sims and Martha Spain. She had two brothers and two sisters, named James Anderson, Samuel, Rebecca and Harriet. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Nathaniel Mack, William M. and Ann M..General Notes

There are two Prudence N. Sims listed o n the North Carolina 1850 Census;
one in Cabarrus County (taken 8/1/1850) in the household of Nathaniel
and Mary A. Sims, and one in neighboring Anson Co unty (taken 10/14/1850)
in the household of James T. Baker.
It appears Prude nce may have worked for the Baker family, helping to take
care of their 5 chi ldren who were under age 8, the youngest one was six
months old on the Oct 14 1850 census.
