William was born on January 10th, 1809 in Haywood County, Tennessee.1 William's father was Levi Rogers and his mother was Sarah "Sally" Rogers. His maternal grandparents were Jonathan Rogers and Elizabeth Daniel. He had two brothers named Rufus and Jonathan. He was the oldest of the three children.General Notes

William Rogers (30-40) had his own household in the Haywood Co 1840
census. He has a wife, 2 male children under 5 years, 3 males 5-10, and
one female under 5 years. Only the heads of household were named in the
1840 census, but the ages of these children agree with those listed in
th e bible--in 1840 Isaac Lefayt, Louis Leroy, aned Jonathan S. were
between 5 an d 10 years; Benjamin and James were under 5, and Sarah
Elizabeth was under 5.
