Vivian Pauline Poole 
Vivian Pauline was born on January 4th, 1913 in Lamar County, Texas.1 Vivian Pauline's father was Ira D Poole and her mother was Edye Morard Moore. Her paternal grandfather was Walter H Poole; her maternal grandparents were George Henry Moore and Lucy Esabel Boyd. She had two brothers and a sister, named James Howard, John Theron and Lorrene. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Hunter Ray, Living, Living, Jencie Rae and Living. She died at the age of 86 on March 2nd, 1999 in Texas. She was buried on March 6th, 1999 in Restland Cemetery, Roxton, Lamar County, Texas.1 1 General Notes

THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, March 5, 1999, page 4B: 'Pauline Poole Whatl ey,
86, of Atlanta, Texas, went home home to be with the Lord Tuesday
eveni ng, March 2, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at
First Bap tist Church, Roxton, with the Rev. Joe Srygley and the Rev.
Danny Robbins off iciating. Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home will make
burial in Restland Cemeter y. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday at
the funeral home. She was born Jan. 4, 1913, to Ira D. and Edye Moore
Poole. She graduated from Roxton High School and attended East Texas
State Teachers College for two years and also attended Texas Christian
University. She married Arnold W. Whatley in 1934 an d he preceded her in
death Oct. 14, 1997. They had four children. A lover of learning, Pauline
taught school in Lamar County and in later years taught rem edial reading
in Fort Worth. As a concerned mother and educator, she reviewed textbooks
and presented evaluations to the Texas Board of Education in Austi n.
While living in Fort Worth she belonged to the University Baptist Church.
She attended TCU with her two older children and she was an active member
o f the Fort Worth Crippled Children's Society. She served as a den mother
of C ub Scouts and assisted with Little League for her two younger sons.
An avid r eader and writer, she wrote articles on politics and religion
for The Roxton Progress for several years and belonged to Texas Eagle
Forum. She wrote poetr y and prose and many of her works were published.
Surviving are her four chil dren, Jerry Arnold Whatley, Peggy Whatley
Harrison, Paul David Whatley, and C hristopher Stephen Whatley, 11
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a si ster, Jencie Springer
Wilson of Brookston; and two brothers, Josh Springer of Dallas and
Kenneth Springer of Roxton. She was a Christian mother, grandmoth er, and
great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed. Pallbearers will be Ch ris,
Jerry, David, Jason, John and James Whatley, Joe Harrison, and Joe
Har rison Jr.'
