  Okey drove himself to the h ospital after completing the chores at Camp
  Ann Bailey and died the same day a s his surgary.
  At the King Home on the hill above Roxalana, Dunbar, Okey grew a large
  orchard and he and Edna  maintained  the nearly five acres of land as the
  nicest property on the hill.
  Okey was born on Big Spruce Run of Thirteenm ile Creek in Mason
  County.  Okey went to Ohio at the ager of eleven to work on the railroad
  and returned with typhoid fever.  He survived but a brother did not.
  At some time, Okey went to live with his married sister Ladora
  Lakota. Just after World War I, Okey joined the Navy and served six
  years.  part of hi s tour was in the South pacific.
  In 1927, okey married Edna Luverna Stone.  Th e couple lived on
  Fletcher Avenue in Dunbar, West Virgina before moving to Tay lor Road in
  the Roxalana Section of Dunbar.  Here,  Okey and Edna maintained n early
  five acres until July of 1959 when they move to Greenbrier County becaus e
  Fletcher Enamel Company, where Okey spent more than thirty years, had put
  a ll of their employees out on the street.
  In Greenbier County at Caldwell, Okey and Edna worked as caretakers
  at Camp Ann Bailey which was the premere Girl S cout camp in West Virginia
  at that time.  They remained here until December 19 63 when Okey died of
  cancer.
  Edna and Okey were renowned in the area at Dunba r for there ability
  to grow flowers and their habit of keeping thier property a showplace of
  the neighborhood.   When the fruit trees and the flowers were b looming in
  the spring, the Edna and Okey's place was a wonderland of color. They
  were good people who maintained a place of respect among their neighbors.
