Phoebe Titus Crawford 
Phoebe Titus was born on September 20th, 1819 in Lincoln County, Tennessee.1 Phoebe Titus' father was William Crawford and her mother was Rachael Titus. Her paternal grandparents were William Crawford and Rachel Sawyers; her maternal grandparents were Ebenezer Titus and Rachel Matthews. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Titus C, John James, William Alexander, Rebecca, Evaline, Rachel Sawyers, Nancy, Elizabeth Ann and Sally Sellers. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Joseph Warren, George Gibson, Margaret Ann and Marietta Francis. She died at the age of 78 on January 27th, 1898 in Howell (Near Fayetteville), Lincoln County, Tennessee. She was buried in Buchanan/McCullum Cemetery, Lincoln County, Tennessee.1 1 General Notes

Mrs. Phoebe Buchanan one of the ol dest and most beloved women of the
Howell neighborhood died at the residence of her
son, Mr. J. P. Buchanan near that place on Thursday January 27, 1898 ag ed
78 years 4 months and 7 days. She was the
mother of Mr. C. M. Buchanan of this place. For a long number of years
she was a member of the Cumberland Pr esbyterian
Church and the duties the church and her master laid upon were perf ormed
cheerfully and will. She was always ready to
administer to the sick or give to the needy and distressed. Her life was
a blessing to others and its example and influence live on.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. J. B. Tigert , internment at the
Buchanan's graveyard. Lot of memory carries me back over
the years that are past the (bonds fallen?), and the eyes are dimmed with
te ars. The best friend I ever had is gone. The mother
who guided my youthful foo tsteps in the path of right, who prayed by my
bedside and whose affections we re bestowed with a
lavish hand lies in the silent city of the dead. The mother ly breast
where in I was want to sole away my youthful cares throbs no
more with life and the tender hands that have so often wiped away my
tears and soo thed my troubled brow are now cold and
still. The gentle voice which has dispe lled many clouds and brought
sun-shine to my soul is forever stilled. Dear ol d mother is
