When he was 63 years old William married (2) Nancy R. Gibson, 16 Oc tober
1843, who was 29 years old. Nancy was born
23 May 1814 in Lincoln Coun ty and died 6 August 1868. She was daughter of
John and Margaret Gibson.
Wil liam Crawford lived for a few. years in Davidson County, Tenn. and was
living there in 1808 when he sold his interest in
land in Augusta County, Va. He mov ed to Huntsville, Ala. before settling
in Lincoln County, Tenn. in
1813. He continued to live in Lincoln Community where he is buried. He
lists his occup ation as a blacksmith on the 1850
census, showing that he continued the occupa tion of his ancestors. He is
thought also to have been a farmer, His will can be
found in Lincoln County Will Bk. 41, 2 December 1859 when it was
contest ed, an abstract follows:
