Catherine was born on October 9th, 1833 in , Tioga, NY. Catherine's father was Gilbert Schoonover and her mother was Jane Shoemaker. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Benjamin, Thomas, Robert, William, Julia, Levina, Amanda and Lorin. She was the second oldest of the nine children.General Notes
