David Jefferson was born in 1856 in Masontown, Fayette, PA.1 David Jefferson's father was John Alexander Province and his mother was Euphemia Thompson. His paternal grandparents were David Province and Agnes Hartley. He had four brothers and four sisters, named George Neff, Thomas T, John Alexander, William M, Elizabeth A, Charity Ann, Hannah Louisa and Euphemia A. He was the second youngest of the nine children. He had a half-brother named Charles Alexander.-
