Her paternal grandparents were Abel Galland and Amy Furby; her maternal grandfather was John Ephraim Dragoo. She had six brothers and two sisters, named William, Benjamin, William Wallace, Andrew Jackson, John Clinton, Andrew Jackson, Amie and Perthenia Eveline. She was the oldest of the nine children.-
