Nicholas was born in 1667 in Newbury, Essex, MA.1 Nicholas' father was Peter Cheney and his mother was Hannah Noyes. His paternal grandparents were John Cheney and Martha Parrat; his maternal grandparents were Nicholas Noyes and Mary Cutting. He had seven brothers and six sisters, named Peter, John, Nathaniel, Nathaniel, Nathaniel, Eldad, Ichabod, Huldah, Mary, Martha, Jemina, Hanna and Lydia. He was the third oldest of the fourteen children.-
