Franklin Jones McGee (Jones McGee)
Jones McGee, 61, well known farmer of the New Hope community, died yesterday afternoon at 3 oclock at the Anderson County Memorial Hospital. He was ill only one day after suffering a stroke.
Mr. McGee was a native of Anderson county, a son of the late Joseph and Mattie McGee. He was a member of the St. Johns Methodist Church.
Surviving, in addition to Mrs. McGee are five daughters and two sons. Mrs. Huger Byrd Jr, Mrs. Malcomb Smith, Mrs. Albert Chamblee, Misses Kathleen and Dorothy McGee, Paul and Glenn McGee
Two brothers also survive, W. Rube McGee and J.E. McGee, of the Starr community.
Funeral services will be held from the St. Johns Methodist church Monday afternoon at 3 oclock conducted by Rev. L.E. Wiggins assisted by Rev. A.E. Holler. The body will be laid to rest in Silver Brook Cemetary. McDougal-Bleckley and Co funeral directors in charge.
Active pallbearers are Sam Elias and Hugh McGee, Mac Glenn, Fred and George Todd, Honorary: Dr. J.L. Gray, Rev. A. M. Smith, Ayer Glenn, John Sherard, J.P. McLees, D.J. Bolt, Carlisle Holler, and John Birchmore.
Was about to build a community house before his death.
Was a trustee of the McLees community School for years.
Member of the Dick Ligon Bible class at St. Johns Methodist Church
Died Feb. 25 at 3:25 pm.
