of Betchworth, Surrey, England
In consequence of his marriage to Alianor Maltravers, he was sum moned to Parliament from 4 Aug. 1377 by writs directed Johanni d e Arundell' whereby he may be held to have become Lord Arundel.
He was Marshal of England in 1377. Being in command of a naval e xpedition in aid to the Duke of Brittany, he defeated the Frenc h fleet off the coast of Cornwall.
