R.E. Sease Named Head of Railroad
Ralph E. Sease, general manager of the Central of Georgia Railway at
Savannah, Ga., has been elected president of the New York, Susquehanna
and Western Railroad, effective January 1 with headquarters in Paterson,
N.J.
Mr. Sease is married to the former Miss Nellie Jones of Dunnellon, Fla.,
and they have two children, Mrs. J.J. Shannon, Hampton, Va., and John,
age 15.
Mr. Sease's mother, Mrs. J.A. Sease, lives in Prosperity and two sisters
live in Columbia, Mrs. H.L. Richardson and Miss Grace Sease.
Mr. Sease, a _ _ year veteran of the Central, has been general manager
since April, 1955 and was prior to that time, assistant general manager.
He is a native of Prosperity and was graduated from Clemson College with
a civil engineering degree in 1925. He worked with the Alabama State
Highway Department and the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad before joining
the Central as draftsman in the engineering department November 1, 1928.
He was promoted to assistant engineer in 1935 and four years later was
transferred to the track division.
The new railroad president served as track supervisor at Dothan, Ala.,
and Albany and Columbus, Ga., and as supervisor of bridges and buildings,
Savannah. His next advancement was trainmaster of the Central's Atlanta
terminals, which was followed by superintendent of the railway's Columbus
Division. He came to Savannah in July 1953 to become superintendent of
transportation and in January 1954 was elevated to general superintendent
of transportation. In July of hte same year he was promoted to assistant
general manager.

Sease rites held in Florida
DUNNELLON, Fla. - Memorial services for Ralph Epting Sease were held
today in Roberts Funeral Home, Dunnellon. Burial will be at a later date
in Dunnellon Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Sease, 74, died Saturday in Williston, Fla.
Born in Prosperity, S.C., he was a son of John A. and Polly Sease. He
was a retired manager of terminals of the Southern Railway System and
past president of the New York Susquehanna and Western Railroad. Mr.
Sease was a graduate of Clemson University.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nellie Muriel Sease; a son, Maj. John C.
Sease of Beaufort; a daughter, Mrs. Frances S. Shannon of Atlanta, Ga.; a
brother, George A. Sease of Hartsville; two sisters; Miss Grace Sease of
Prosperity and Mrs. Mary Richardson of Columbia; six grandchildren; and a
great-grandchild.
