MISS GRACE ELEA SEASE of 954 Princeton St., formerly of Prosperity, died
Thursday. Plans will be announced by Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street
Chapel.

Miss G. Sease, teacher counselor, principal

Miss Grace Elea Sease, 90, of 954 Princeton St., formerly of Prosperity,
died Thursday.

Born in Chapin, she was a daughter of the late John Adam and Aurelia
Stoudemire Sease. She graduated from Winthrop College in 1920 and
received her master's degree from the Univeristy of South Carolina. She
taught for two years at Pelham School, one year in Prosperity, and at
Spencer, N.C., and at Snyder School of Columbia. She helped start
Waldlaw Junior High.

She was a retired high school teacher and was also formerly an assistance
principal at Dreher and Flora high schools, where scholarships have been
established. She retired from Flora High School and then taught and was
a counselor with Columbia Commercial College for 10 years.

She was a member and past secretary of Delta Kappa Gamma teacher's
sorority and past secretary of the Columbia Teacher's Council. She was
past member of the UDC, the Literary Schirosis, the Order of the Eastern
Star and the Winthrop Daughters. She was past president of hte S.C.
Association of Women Deans and Counselors, was one of five chosen to the
National Committee to study high school psychology courses, and was the
only South Carolinian to be chosen to attend an invitational workshop at
Teacher's College at Columbia University.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Prosperity, and an associate
member of Lutheran Church of the Incarnation. She taught the Grace Sease
Sunday School Class and was named Sunday School Teacher of the Year for
the S.C. Synod of the Lutheran Church in America.

Surviving are a brother, Retired Lt.Col. George A. Sease of Hartsville;
and a sister, Mrs. Herman (Mary) Richardson of Columbia.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church, with
burial in Prosperity Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Dunbar
Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
