Ruby's father was Fred Summer and her mother was Marrilla Catherine Shealy. Her maternal grandparents were Leonard L. Shealy and Martha Isabelle Comalander. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named Leland, Leland, Albert, Otto, Carl, Clarence, Forest, Manise, Annette and Pauline.-
