Otto's father was Fred Summer and his mother was Marrilla Catherine Shealy. His maternal grandparents were Leonard L. Shealy and Martha Isabelle Comalander. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Leland, Leland, Albert, Carl, Clarence, Forest, Manise, Annette, Pauline and Ruby.-
